Mission

Mission

The Lewis Lab is advancing the frontiers of soft and living materials research through fundamental science, engineering, and translational activities that address important societal needs.

About The Lab

We are a multidisciplinary team of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers enabled by a cadre of dedicated staff with expertise in materials science, stem cell biology, fluid mechanics, 3D printing, and biomanufacturing.  Our labs contain than 6,000 square feet of wet lab space on Harvard’s Cambridge campus, which house our customized 3D printing, chemical synthesis, microscopy, rheology, machining, and cell culture equipment and enable our group’s dynamic and fast-paced research.

Outreach

We are dedicated to broadening pathways for underrepresented minority students, postdocs, and faculty in STEM. Our lab is actively engaged in the education and outreach activities sponsored by the Harvard Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), including middle school workshops on 3D printing and the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging

We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and belonging through equitable and inclusive policies and practices. We recruit diverse students, postdoctoral researchers, and staff with the goal of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences can thrive, have a strong sense of belonging, and achieve excellence.
